Presented here is a superb 1964 UK mono early pressing of The Rolling Stones' self-titled debut on the unboxed red/silver Decca label. This is a significant copy for collectors who focus on the intricate history of the band's first release, featuring the 1A/3A matrix stamps (XARL-6271-1A / XARL-6272-3A).
This variant is highly regarded for including the full 4:06 version of ‘Tell Me’, which replaced the shorter edit used on the earliest 1A/1A master. Furthermore, this copy represents the early transition where the track title was updated across the board; ‘I Need You Baby’ is correctly listed on both the rear of the sleeve and the Side 1 label. This consistency identifies it as a cohesive early 1964 pressing, produced shortly after the initial "Mona" misprint was corrected.
The album is housed in its original front-laminated flipback picture sleeve, which remains in VG+ condition. The front laminate is bright and glossy, with a few characteristic creases near the opening edge, while the flipbacks remain intact. The record comes complete with its original polylined inner sleeve. The vinyl is in Excellent (EX) condition, displaying a brilliant deep shine and very few signs of play. For a 60s blues-rock LP, finding a copy in this state—offering the punchy, direct mono audio of the 3A side B cut—is a rare opportunity.
This is a high-quality copy that captures the raw, distorted energy of the British Blues Explosion in its purest analogue form. It remains a cornerstone addition for any serious Rolling Stones collector or 1960s discography.
