This iconic 1968 first UK stereo pressing of The Beatles (popularly known as the White Album) carries the prestigious Apple Records catalogue number PCS 7067-8. As an authentic early production, this specific copy features the low six-digit serial number 0152314 stamped on the lower right of the front cover, a detail designed by pop artist Richard Hamilton to give the minimalist sleeve the feel of a numbered limited edition.
The physical presentation is a hallmark of Garrod & Lofthouse craftsmanship, featuring a fully laminated gatefold sleeve with top-opening slots — a feature exclusive to the earliest UK runs. The front cover displays "The BEATLES" in embossed, raised lettering. Inside, the records are housed in the original die-cut black inner sleeves. This set is complete with its legendary inserts: four glossy 8" x 11" colour portrait photographs of the Fab Four, a large fold-out lyric poster with a photo collage on the reverse and scarce original spacer sheet.
The vinyl itself bears the classic dark green Apple labels. Critical identifying marks for this 1968 stereo edition include the "Sold in U.K." subject-to-resale-price text and the "An E.M.I. Recording" credit. Sonically, the first-press matrices offer the original, raw stereo mix of the 30-track masterpiece, spanning from the hard-rocking "Helter Skelter" to the avant-garde "Revolution 9".
