A fantastic addition for dedicated British pop collectors, this 1964 UK mono 1st pressing of The Beatles' masterpiece A Hard Day's Night (PMC 1230) highlights another authentic archival variation. This classic release is immediately identified by the iconic black and yellow Parlophone label, showcasing all essential first-press typography. The design includes "THE PARLOPHONE CO. LTD." rim text, "RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1964", and the mandatory "Sold in U.K." print statement. A distinct KT tax code is cleanly embossed on the side one label, accompanied by the sought-after 3N/3N matrix stampers and individual 4RGP / 6GTL runout indicators.
This vintage album is housed inside the less common front-laminated Ernest J. Day sleeve, which displays the prominent mid-sized "mono" branding on the front cover. The package comes complete with its original, period-accurate polylined Emitex inner sleeve.
We grade the sleeve as VG. The vintage jacket exhibits some laminate creasing around the edges and features a clear tape repair on the reverse side in the bottom left-hand corner, whilst retaining good structural soundness. The vinyl disc also earns a VG grading, showing a number of surface marks from regular handling over the decades. Despite these visual signs of past play, it represents an affordable, highly honest opportunity to own a genuine 1964 first-edition pressing, providing the punchy, uncompressed analogue sound that classic rock listeners prize.
