An excellent addition to any mid-sixties vinyl collection, this 1964 UK mono 1st pressing of The Beatles' A Hard Day's Night (PMC 1230) offers another distinct variation for Fab Four enthusiasts. This vintage release is instantly identified by its iconic black and yellow Parlophone label, showcasing the crucial "THE PARLOPHONE CO. LTD." rim text alongside the mandatory "Sold in U.K." print. Notably, this particular archival variant is completely without any embossed tax code on the labels, while carrying the desirable 3N/3N matrix stampers in the runout grooves.

Unlike standard issues, this classic LP is housed in the less common front-laminated flipback Ernest J. Day sleeve, which features the distinctive mid-sized "mono" indicator prominently on the front cover. The album comes complete with its original, period-accurate polylined Emitex inner sleeve.

We grade the Ernest J. Day jacket as VG. The sleeve displays typical age-related laminate creasing around the edges, some corner wear at the bottom right, and a vintage biro name and stamp on the white reverse side. The vinyl disc is also graded VG, presenting a number of surface marks from handling over the decades. Despite these cosmetic signs of age, it remains a thoroughly honest and highly collectable example of a landmark British rock album. It provides a wonderful, budget-friendly opportunity to experience the raw power of the original 1960s uncompressed mono analogue mix.
