Followers of alternative rock and British indie music have an excellent opportunity to source an authentic UK first-edition vinyl release of Morrissey's debut solo recording, "Suedehead". Issued by HMV Records in the spring of 1988 under the reference POP 1618, this milestone 45 rpm record launched the vocalist's post-Smiths career. It remains an incredibly important historical artefact for alternative music collectors.

This specific variant features the classic blue and black HMV labels housed inside a robust card picture jacket. This particular copy features a large centre hole, as the original four-pronged push-out section has been removed for jukebox use or adapter playback. Discerning listeners will recognise the specific matrix codes machine-stamped and hand etched into the runout grooves. Side A displays POP 1618 A-1U-1-1- "DREAMS...ARE JUST...DREAMS", while Side B reveals POP 1618 B-1U-1-2 TY1, confirming its lineage as a genuine first-run A-1U/B-1U matrix variant.

The audio tracklist pairs two of the singer's most celebrated early compositions. The principal side presents the majestic, guitar-laden pop anthem "Suedehead", which was famously co-written and produced alongside Stephen Street. Flipping the disc over unveils the melancholy acoustic beauty of "I Know Very Well How I Got My Name", a highly prized non-album track that serves as a fan-favourite b-side.

The item has been designated a solid very good plus condition grading across both components. The durable card sleeve is tidy with some light rubbing visible along the structural borders, whilst the vinyl surface remains bright but displays a small collection of surface marks.
