Vinyl enthusiasts have a fantastic opportunity to acquire this striking UK red wax pressing of Michael Jackson's legendary rock-pop crossover anthem, "Beat It". Distributed by Epic Records in 1983, this distinctive 45 rpm release originally formed part of the scarce Michael Jackson 9 singles pack, catalogued under the main box set reference MJ1. This particular disc represents the seventh instalment within that highly prized nine-piece collection.
The explosive Side A track is lifted from the record-breaking Thriller album, which was available to fans on both LP and cassette under catalogue number EPC 85930. Meanwhile, the flip side features a brilliant cut taken from the landmark 1979 LP and cassette Off The Wall, originally issued under catalogue number EPC 83468. Displaying the traditional blue and yellow Epic label design, the single carries its own individual catalogue code of MJ 1-7 and comes complete with its original card picture cover. Discerning buyers will note the distinctive combination of hand etched and machine-stamped Matrix details in the dead wax, reading EPC A 3258 MJ1/7 on both sides.
The musical content captures the performer at the absolute pinnacle of his global dominance. The top side offers the hard-hitting masterpiece "Beat It", featuring the iconic, blistering guitar solo by Eddie Van Halen. Flipping the record over reveals the energetic groove of "Burn This Disco Out", a track masterfully constructed by songwriter Rod Temperton and producer Quincy Jones.
Regarding preservation, the outer card picture jacket merits a very good plus grading, showing a clean appearance accompanied by some minor wear from storage. The vibrant red vinyl disc itself is in excellent clean condition, retaining a superb original gloss.
