An intriguing find for Southern Hemisphere collectors, this late-seventies seven-inch extended play captures the raw energy of Elvis Presley’s finest cinematic soundtrack alongside the flawless vocal backing of the Jordanaires. These historic movie sessions were originally issued back in 1958 during the absolute peak of the King's rock 'n' roll dominance, this scarce reissue enables Elvis fans to experience those classic recordings with superb clarity. This scarce 1978 RCA Victor release, carrying the catalogue number 20146, was manufactured in Australia to serve both the domestic market and record shops across New Zealand. Setting this regional issue apart is the smooth tan label variation, complete with a solid, unperforated centre design.
For vinyl collectors who fastidiously track runout information, the dead wax features a combination of etched and stamped details, reading 20146-A A DB AT A1 A3 on the initial side and 20146-B A DB AT A1 A3 on the reverse. The disc is uniquely housed in its original, distinctively styled wraparound paper picture sleeve. The track listing brings together four stellar cuts from the legendary movie sessions, kicking off with the hard-rocking title track "King Creole" and the atmospheric "New Orleans" on the A-side, before shifting to the smooth, romantic delivery of "As Long As I Have You" and "Lover Doll" on the flip.
The condition of this copy is exceptionally strong, earning a Very Good Plus grading for the sleeve and an Excellent grade for the vinyl itself. The disc looks remarkably fresh, boasting a beautiful, mirror-like sheen with virtually no visual flaws to note. The delicate wraparound picture sleeve has been wonderfully preserved; it remains thoroughly clean and bright, displaying only a minimal amount of light handling creasing that is entirely typical for a paper sleeve of this age.
