Comedy - Vinyl Records For Sale
Records recorded by comedians became popular in the late 50's and 60's and usually followed on from successful radio performances. In the UK you can find vinyl records by the Goons and Tony Hancock who have cult status. In the USA Bob Newhart created many performances for record such as the Driving instructor. The Goons was pure slapstick by Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan, Harry Secombe and Michael Bentine. Tony Hancock did sketches like The Blood Donor. Most of these recordings were in album format on LP vinyl. The BBC produced a lot of records in this format featuring the comedy shows they produced. You can also find more classical records like Gilbert and Sullivan's comic opera The Pirates of Penzance. These records are a bit niche and Planet Earth keep a selection of them in stock.
