Marking the moment the group truly conquered the British charts, this 1980 new wave release illustrates the massive commercial appeal of the band's signature "Ant-beat" rhythms. Captured during intense recording sessions at Monmouthshire's Rockfield Studios in August 1980, the twelve-track playlist captures their peak creative period through high-energy numbers such as "Feed Me To The Lions", "The Magnificent Five", and "Making History". This edition is particularly interesting for collectors tracking the album's swift rise in popularity, as it represents the revised production run that hit high street record shops just as the band became household names.

What distinguishes this second edition variant in the dead wax is the transition to the A4 matrix cut on the initial side, paired with the B1 configuration on the flip. Both runout paths carry the hand-scribed "RAYS" stamp from master Trident engineer Ray Staff. Because this is the more common subsequent pressing, the groove at track two houses the familiar single mix of "Antmusic" - utilising the iconic drumstick-clicking intro that fans heard on the radio, which CBS rushed onto the LP to replace the scarce electronic fade-in mix found on the first few thousand copies. The package retains its full complement of inserts, including the colourful printed lyric inner liner and the large, oversized 12-page A4 merchandise booklet detailing their gigs and line-ups from 1976 onwards.

Our grading for this specific copy is set at EX/EX overall. The analogue vinyl discs are beautifully clean, showing excellent gloss and promising an punchy, top-tier audio performance across all twelve tracks. The multi-page historical document and the inner lyric wrapper are both immaculate. The outer picture cover - which features the original front factory hype sticker - remains rigid and bright. It is a fantastic opportunity to own a complete copy of the version that soundtracked the peak of UK Antmania.
