7 Inch Vinyl Records
7 Inch Vinyl Records For Sale
The 7 inch single became the major form of record sales in the early 1950's and continued into the 60's and 70's. Made from vinyl, it became the main medium for the sale of popular music. Major recording labels produced 7 inch singles including Decca, EMI, London, Capitol and Pye and imports came in from the USA, many of which are now hard to find and very collectable. The standard single was usually under 3 minutes long. Elvis Presley singles were released on the RCA label and copies in good condition are highly collectible. In the later sixties the Apple label came to the fore with The Beatles and associate artists such as Mary Hopkin and Badfinger. Apple records have become increasingly hard to find and Planet Earth Records always have a good selection. The sale of singles was driven by the charts and Al Martino with 'Here in My Heart' in 1952 was the first artist to be number one in the UK and USA.The 7 single market continued until the CD replaced it and later the download, but there has been a major revival of vinyl records for both 7 inch and 12 inch singles and there is now a collectable and enthusiast market. Planet Earth Records have a wide range of 7 inch singles from the 1950's through to present day from all major labels and artists including; Elvis, David Bowie, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who and many more.
